Manchester
I always had the idea to create a series by seeking inspiration only by one single song. For me music completes photography, including the mood and atmosphere you want to display. I chose Bon Iver’s Song “Blood Bank” as in my opinion the song reflects the topic of starting all over again, by passing through a difficult time in your life, which in fact I was personally going trough. For some people the song may mean something completely different, which is totally fine as well. It’s the same with photography. The closer that we are to the present, the more overwhelming it is. Things only become plausible, legitimate, normal as we move away and finally the present becomes past. As Bon Iver describes, this song is about being stuck in a car in the snow, with somebody new. Manchester is a great place for shooting, offering all facets of street and urban life and I also could imagine it would be a great place to start all over again. Moody weather, characters, dark and small alleys. Although it was already the beginning of May the weather was mostly raining and the temperature cold, perfect conditions to take your camera and explore the city.
Well I met you at the Blood Bank
we were looking at the bags
Wondering if any of the Colors
matched any of the names we knew on the tags
“You said “See look that’s yours!”
Stacked on top with your Brother's
see how they resemble one another
Even in their Plastic Little Covers
“And I said I know it well
”
That Secret that you knew
but don't know how to tell
“It fucks with your honor and it teases your head”
But you know that it's good, girl
cause its running you with red
“I’m in love with your honor
I’m in love with your cheeks”
What's that noise up the stairs babe?
is that christmas morning creaks?
“You said “ain’t this just like the present
To be showing up like this””
